Covid-19 message to members and guests.

The Covid-19 pandemic has forced the closing of Beaches United Church where we hold meetings, and has by Government order restricted the number of people who may gather. More critically, it has made us all more careful to avoid contact with others to prevent the spread of the virus. With this in mind, the Club will suspend meetings and gatherings for the rest of the 2019 – 2020 year, specifically for April, May and June 2020.

The Club will organize a number of virtual meetings using the Zoom video conferencing app. Zoom is a free app that works on most modern computers and phones and tablets that have a camera and microphone and speaker. There may be data costs depending on how you connect to the internet. It has been tried with 10 people and should work with 50. It allows 2 way interaction, although 50 people speaking at once will be challenging to understand.

Subject to more planning:

The March 26 meeting has been cancelled, and the April 2 meeting will be cancelled
The April 16 and May 7 meetings will be a virtual meetings held over Zoom and will consist of member generated content, critique, challenge submissions, a tech session or two

The originally scheduled April 2 contest will be moved to May 21, and the print contest scheduled for that date has been cancelled. The contest will be made virtual by requesting submissions by May 10, having them judged off line by the official judges, and scheduling a Zoom meeting for May 21 to present the images submitted, the points, awards and comments awarded by the judges by Colleen. Paper award certificates will be presented when meeting resume.

The June 6 BBQ has been cancelled for this year.

Print exhibitions planned for Beach United Church and the Beacher Café will not take place.

Outings have been cancelled.

The speakers planned for April and May will be deferred to the fall.

As before, emails from the Club President will send details before each planned session. The email will include the Zoom link and meeting ID and password.

Depending on the status of the pandemic, physical meetings will resume in September 2020.

Hopefully we will get through this safely.
